Background:

Five co-operative societies were the origin of the Consortium, set up in the 70s by horticulturists in the Bologna province which even then were aware of the potential of a co-operative that was ready to be the commercial and organisational representative for their productions.

At the very beginning the 5 Co-operatives, C.O.N.A, C.O.BO, C.O.P.A., IL QUADRIFOGLIO and PRIMAVERA could only be found in the Bologna Fruit and Vegetable Market and wasn’t until later, with the acquisition of a logistics platform, did they branch out of the market. With the choices they made the Co-operatives were able to be increasingly credible representatives as far as modern distribution and organised catering were concerned.
